shots from November photo shoot

These are some shots from my most recent photo shoot with my photographer Henry Riggs. This shoot was fun, I wanted to do something dark and grungy... something to match my most recent mood. I did a really artistic dramatic eye.. something black swanish. We shot in the studio which was a lot of fun. These were the photos I picked for my blog... I like the expressions and the lighting in these particular photos..I did not want to do a beauty shoot this time. I wanted to do something different. I am pretty happy with the way that these came out.

These remind me of old vogue. Below is my reference pic.. where I got all my ideas.

Makeup Transformation

This week at work I had the pleasure of doing some of my co workers makeup to practice for some clients that came into the salon on Saturday for a wedding... Below is a photo of my friend Leah. I used the products our salon carries which is Jane Iredale... as you can see she has some redness so I used an under eye concealer and something that had a more matte finish because she likes heavy coverage. I did a nice simple fall look on her eyes as well.

This second photo is a bridesmaid that came in to get her makeup done... She wanted a dramatic smokey eye with some falsies... She had a darker completion so I did some grays and some purples to make her brown eyes stand out. They were really happy with how it looked. Her skin looked flawless as well. I am pretty bummed I didnt get a pic of the second brides maid though.

Fire Ball and Fairy Makeup!

Halloween was crazy... So many people came to me for makeup.. I only had time for a few. These are some photos of what I did. My sister ( who is pictured first) was "FIREBALL" for Halloween she wanted a look that was pretty intense.. something that she had never done before. I had so much fun with this look. I was really really happy with the way that it came out. It wad not hard at all. I used a reference picture but of course I made it my own. For this look I used Ben Nye "Clown White" as the primer, only because its more of a heavy base makeup and it makes the color stick way more proficiently and makes the color more intense.  We added gems for a more creative look. She even had the hair extensions to match!

Below is my friend Aimee. She was the tooth fairy for Halloween. I wanted to do something super girly and cute because thats what I think of when I think tooth fairy. Lots of glitter and glitz! I wa happy with how this cam out. Aimee does not really ever wear tons of makeup so I wanted to do something creative but not too crazy intense. I used some glitter, pretty purples and I decided to do a cute elegant design on one side of the face with liquid liner.. I thought this was a nice touch.

Joker Makeup! Halloween LOOKS!

-Joker Makeup-

So this look literally creeped me out for a little while... This took me about an hr and a half;. It was a little bit complicated just because of the placement of the teeth. I used only a few different products for this look it was not too complicated. I am really happy with how it turned out. Once again I doubted myself with this look,.. I did not think I would be able to do it but I think Ipulled it off... I added a little touch of green under my eyes just to add that "Joker" vibe to it..

for this look I used Ben Nye "Clown White" all over my face.

For all the wrinkles I traced my real wrinkles while scrunching my face and just traced them with gray and black shadow with a skinny thin makeup brush. For the darker black and the black on the teeth is all liquid liner!

Hope you enjoy! More to come! Happy Halloween!

Lady Gaga look #2

This is another Lady Gaga look that I did the other day it was really simple. I just used liquid liner for the lightning bolt. I loved this look from her Poker Face video.. I got this wig and thats exactly what it reminded me of... this look I feel is also very David Bowie which I dont mind either.

Lips-I used a nude color that I had and added a pink shimmer on top.
For the highlight I used Hard Candys "Glamoflauge" which is great stuff
Eyes- I used a color similar to MACS "Woodstock" and a bit of "Passionate" and "Girlie" by Mac.

Nice Simple Fall look

This is a look I did the other day that I loved...It was really simple I did a nice subtle smokey eye, with this really pretty new lip stick i bought it is wet and wild and Its called black orchid. I love it for fall. On top of it all its matte and it stayed all day at work. I got this idea from a photo I saw on pinterest. I love using browns and golds for fall. I love how it looks. I will just be doing that from now on and if you are interested in how it is done you can contact me on my new professional Facebook page.
This look was really easy and didnt take me long at all! I am really happy with the way that it came out! I used Ben Nye and for the cracks I used liquid liner of course! I hope you like!

Grunge Look- inspired by Scarlett Johansson

I came across this look on Scarlett the other day when I was on Pinterest, and loved it and wanted to try it out on myself. I thought it was very subtle, but still very dramatic. Below is a look at how it came out on me.

This look was actually really easy to do, the only issue I had was completely changing my skin tone to get that pale washed out look like she has, since I got a tan at the beach that was pretty hard, but I managed. For this look I used 2 different shades of brown one dark and one a little bit lighter. I took the lighter brown and pretty much made a cut crease right in the center of the eye lid to form that shadowy deep set eye look that scarlett has in this look. I took the darker shade of brown and blended it at the wing. After doing that a swept a very light whitish tan color across the lid to give it that highlight like she has as well. Underneath it was a bit tricky especially right in the tear duct. I took a liquid liner on the top and then used a cream liner on the bottom and let it come to a point on the inner corners of my eye like Scarlett, kind of giving it a reverse cat eye. Then at the bottom of my lids i smugged out the cream eyeliner along with a dark gray eye shadow, also bringing that gently into the inner corners of my eyes as well.

Face-For the face I highlighted and contoured my cheeks a little more than usual. I wanted my cheek bones and jaw bones to really stand out. I took a dark brown bronze and a brown eyeshadow and blended that in really well on my cheek bones and added a highlight underneath.

Brows-I went with a very intense eyebrow, a bit more than she had I really have a thing for thick, dark contoured brows these days. I just filled them in with a brown pencil and shadow.

Lips-I started with a dark color, but it was a little bit too dark for my skin tone so.. I ditched that and went a little bit lighter for the look. You can do whatever you feel comfortable with though!

Hope you guys enjoy this look! More to come!

Twiggy/Edie Sedgwick Inspired Photoshoot.

This was a look I did on my most recent photo shoot. I had been wanting to do a twiggy/edie sedgwick photo shoot for so long... I had so much fun on this photo shoot.I was able to collaborate with a local photographer here in Baltimore who does incredible work. It was so incredibly hot this day my make up was melting off but these photos ended up being beautiful. To get this look I had to follow a photo on pinterest for reference.
I was going for something like this but I gave it my own twist. This look was a little tricky because it is a cut crease and its hard not to have the black and white blend together. In the crease for the black I used a gel liner and concealed it with a jet black eye shadow to prevent printing. (Yes for this look there is little to no blending.. for a first)I used a very dark dramatic liquid liner on the lids and a matte white shadow for my base, and added some falsies!:) I really loved this vintage Mod 1960 look. It was so much fun!!!

Makeup Monday- Smokey teal and brown eye.

I am not naked I swear...

I decided every Monday I will post a different look... today I wanted to do something simple and summery. I have been using a lot of browns and golds lately and I wanted to use that but also add some color.... As you can see I colored my hair and got a sweet ass tan. I thought these color choices really made that pop. I chose a light pink lip to bring out my golden glow. Thank you North Carolina sun for being so good to me. I am really trying to broaden my horizons and take some risks with my makeup these days. This look was really easy to achieve.... I have not been using fake lashes lately I have let my natural ones grow back in and they are finally starting to look decent. Make sure when doing this look to focus on your blending... brown and blue are tricky together, because sometimes it makes a nasty green color, so I added some black in there as well to break that up.. I also did some contouring to my face, usually I use a dark brown eye shadow and bronzer on my cheeks to accomplish that. For my highlight I used a shade lighter than my skin tone. I applied it on my chin, below my brows,on the center of my nose, between the brows and under my eyes, and below my cheek bones.Remember everywhere you have a shadow you must have a highlight, or you will look funky. Hope you all like this look.... if anyone reads this blog.. thanks for checking it out! Below I posted the products used.
On eyes- E.L.F Shadow Primer
Upper Lid- "Orb","Texture","Soba"
Brow Highlight-"Shroom"
Lid-"Parrot","Aquadisiac"

Fourth of July Makeup!

So it has been a really long time since I have posted anything... I am not even sure if any one even reads any of my stuff any way.. I have been super busy with a lot of new projects.. I will be sharing them on here within the next couple of weeks. I am a little delayed with this look I am about to post. This was the look that I did for the Fourth of July.. When its a holiday I like to always try to be festive. I really liked the look that I did. It was really quick and simple and easy.. I was not able to get a great picture of it because I was in a rush.. but this is how it turned out looking and I was pretty happy with it.. I got a lot of complements on it!
I pretty much wanted a festive but not too dramatic look... I am not a fan of red eye shadow.. I am not sure why any one would use it..rather than theatrical or special effects makeup.. but thats just my opinion. I used different shades of blue on my lid with white as my base color. Then to add the red in my look I decided to use my hair as an accessory:) and a red lip. I didnt go with the traditional navy blue for this look. I wanted to do something lighter.. I thought the contrast would be too intense for this particular look. Then of course I went pretty intense on the brow.. like I always tend to do. Below I will post the colors and products I used to achieve this look! Thanks so much for checking it out! There will be more to come!

Eyes- Primer= E.L.F in the Nude color. ( Do not buy the glitter primer its horrid)
Base of the eyelid= Combo of Mac "Shroom" and "Nylon"(to give it a shimmer)
Eye Crease= Combo of Mac "Contrast" "Deep Truth" and "Parisian Skies"(used that one for the blending)
Under brow highlight= Mac "Gesso"
Lips= Wet and Wild in "Cherry Red" (best red lipstick I ever bought)
